Vishnu Vinod – IPL’s First Concussion Substitute (2023)
Vishnu Vinod is the first player who met with a head injury in the 2023 qualifier match. He came in 2023 Qualifier 2 match which was played against Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans. Vishnu replaced the injured wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan, who was hit in the eye by Chris Jordan early in the Gujarat Titans innings. Although he scored only 5 runs from 7 balls but later he also met with head injury.
Yudhvir Singh – Lucknow Super Giants (2024)
After Vishnu Vinod, Yudhvir Singh became the second concussion substitute in the history of IPL. Mohsin Khan who was playing for Lucknow Super Giants met with an injury during a match against Kolkata Knight Riders. Yudhvir made an immediate impact by taking a wicket with his very first delivery which shows his outstanding talent in bowling.
Ashwani Kumar – Mumbai Indians (2025)
Ashwani Kumar is the third concussion substitute in IPL history. In the 2025 season he replaced South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch after Bosch was struck on the helmet by a bouncer from Prasidh Krishna and was medically assessed with concussion symptoms. Ashwani had experience playing a few matches earlier in the season due to which he immediately chose to play as a substitute.
