5) 281/4 vs Australia, Derby, 2017
At the fifth position in the list is India’s 281 against England women in the 2017 Women’s World Cup group stage. It was the second match of the 2017 Women’s World Cup, and it was played in Derby. The Indian women after batting first, scored 281 runs and lost three wickets at the end of their 50 overs, with Smriti Mandhana being the highest scorer with 90 runs, followed by Punam Raut (86) and captain Mithali Raj (71) who all helped India to post a dominating total on the board.
In response, the English women could only reach 246 as they were all out in 47.3 overs, thus offering the Indian women a win by 35 runs in this World Cup match.
4) 281/3 vs England, Derby, 2017
The Indian women’s team reached the fourth-highest total ever against the Australian women in the second semi-final of the 2017 Women’s World Cup. The match was also played in Derby, but this time the score was created only by the powerful hitting of Harmanpreet Kaur. The right-handed batsman took 115 balls, hit 20 fours, and 7 sixes to make a monumental World Cup record of 171 not out, and his runs came at a strike rate of 148.69.
The score was so high that the Indian women completely overpowered the Australian team with their 281 for 4 in 42 overs, as the match was interrupted by rain. The Australians, despite all their efforts, were only able to score 245 in 40.1 overs, thus being bowled out and conceding a 36-run victory to the Indian women’s team in this second semi-final, after which the Women in Blue became the finalists.

The Indian women’s third-highest score in Women’s World Cup history was against the West Indies in 2013. The match, which was the very first match of the 2013 Women’s World Cup, played at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, saw the Indian women’s team score 284 for 6 after 50 overs, thanks to the century by opener Thirush Kamini along with Punam Raut’s 72 runs.
The West Indies women were then bowled out for a meager 179, and a united bowling effort by India resulted in a huge 105-run victory in the first World Cup match. Kamini gave an excellent performance, taking 146 balls, hitting 11 boundaries, and a six, and thus contributing significantly to India’s gigantic total.

The Indian women’s team recorded its second-highest ever innings against the West Indies this time in the 2022 World Cup played in New Zealand. The Women’s World Cup 2022 witnessed the clash of the ladies from India and West Indies at Hamilton, where the Women in Blue were completely in-control, as Smriti Mandhana (123) and Harmanpreet Kaur (109) helped India score 317 runs for 8 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.
The West Indies’ struggle was so bad that they couldn’t even put up a fight. They ended up getting dismissed for a meager score of 162 runs, with Sneh Rana taking away three very important wickets, and the Indian women ultimately winning the match by 155 runs quite comfortably.

The Indian women’s team in the ongoing World Cup match against Australia has achieved the highest-ever total in any World Cup game which was 330 runs in the 2025 Women’s World Cup match at Vishakhapatnam. The Indian batting was exhilarating, led by Pratika Rawal (75) and Smriti Mandhana (80), as the first-wicket partnership accumulated 155 runs.
In addition, the middle order also played a role in contributing to the total as India reached 330 runs after 48.5 overs, before the last wicket fell with 7 balls still left to play. Nevertheless, they had already posted a total that was very difficult to chase, indeed, their best total in the Women’s World Cup, and all this was made possible by the magnificent batting effort where runs were flowing.
