Test matches and One Day Internationals have quite a few similarities between them in the manner of playing.
In the case of batsmen, they get ample time to get in but the ball restrictions in ODIs necessitate the batter to get really involved in the limited overs version.
On the other hand, some players have made their mark in both formats with substantial scores. However, only some of them have reached to the stature of seeing their names alongside double centuries in both formats.
It is here where we are going to have a look at the batters who registered 200 runs in both Test and ODI formats.
Sachin Tendulkar

There is no way you can avoid this name while mentioning cricket records. Sachin Tendulkar is simply omnipresent!
The Master Blaster was the initial one to do this double in international cricket. He had four double hundreds in Tests, but it was in 2010 that he broke the 200-run barrier in ODIs. Indeed, Sachin Tendulkar was the first men’s batter to touch this mark in ODIs.
The year 2010 turned out to be lucky for the right-handed batsman as he added two more double centuries in Tests to his name. Thus, Tendulkar scored a total of six double centuries in white ball cricket.

In ODI: 200 not out against South Africa in Gwalior in 2010
Virender Sehwag

The same year as Tendulkar’s second double century in ODIs, Virender Sehwag made the same move by scoring 200 in the ODIs . The dashing opener was always fond of scoring big.
And of course by big scores we mean really huge ones. He has two triple hundreds in his name which are the evidences of that. He was the highest scorer for India in Tests – 319 versus South Africa.

Chris Gayle

Chris Gayle was similar to Sehwag in every aspect. Actually, he was more brutal and strong.
The moment he got the ball, the bowler’s end was a certain loss. Though he was that much of a killer in Tests and ODIs his T20 records are well known and he was equally a beast in Tests and ODIs.
Just like Sehwag, Gayle also smashed a couple of triple centuries in Tests. And prior to those 300s, he got his first double hundred in 2002.
Move to 2015, and the Universe Boss made 200 runs in the ODIs. It was a noteworthy thing that it happened in the World Cup making it the first instance of such a thing in the 50-over event.

In ODIs: 215 against Zimbabwe in Canberra in 2015
Rohit Sharma

If the above-mentioned batters were to make double hundreds one after another, then Rohit Sharma would do the same in the ODI format. Not once, not twice, but three times!
Sharma is the only player till date who has been able to achieve the 200-run mark more than once in ODIs. He has always been an open admirer of the big daddy double hundred scoring method.
Though the right-hander had a slow start, he always ended with big scores. Do you remember his 264-run assault against Sri Lanka? Well, it is hard to forget the highest ODI score ever made.
And his only Test double ton came in 2019. He made it to a score of 212 runs against South Africa in the Ranchi Test.

It was in the company of Sharma when Gill scored a double century in ODIs. He made a total of 208 runs against the Kiwis to ring in 2023 with a bang. Gill is the youngest to reach that milestone in the one-day format.
After a gap of two and a half years, the right-handed batsman scored a big century in Tests. He produced a 269-run innings against the English, this time being the captain.
