5. Mahela Jayawardene – 98* vs West Indies, 2010

Four days after Sri Lanka’s first T20I century, Mahela Jayawardene nearly scored another, registering 98* off 56 balls against the West Indies in the 2010 T20 World Cup. Opening the innings with Sanath Jayasuriya, Jayawardene hit four sixes and nine fours to take yield Sri Lanka to 195-3 in 20 overs. His heroics earned him the ‘Player of the Match’ award.
4. Mahela Jayawardene – 100 vs Zimbabwe, 2010

At the 2010 T20 World Cup, Mahela Jayawardene scored 100 from 64 balls against Zimbabwe to become the first Sri Lankan to score a T20I hundred. He hit 10 fours and four sixes before he was dismissed in the final over. His score aided Sri Lanka to reach 173-7 and to win by 14 runs via the D/L method.

Kusal Perera went on to score Sri Lanka’s first Twenty20I century in a decade, registering 101 off just 46 balls against New Zealand in January 2025. After the openers got out, Perera hit 13 fours and 4 sixes as he guided Sri Lanka to a total of 218-5. New Zealand fought hard, but Sri Lanka still managed to pull off the win, with Perera being named the ‘Player of the Match’.

In August 2011, Tillakaratne Dilshan scored 104* from 57 deliveries in a T20I against Australia. He got 12 fours and five sixes as Sri Lanka posted 198-3. Sri Lanka then won by 35 runs.
