Virat Kohli, the former captain of India, has once again become the centre of attention not because of his batting but through a cryptic social media post. After arriving in Australia for the upcoming ODI series of three matches, Kohli took to X to share a message that went viral instantly.

His post read: “The only time you truly fail, is when you decide to give up.”

Virat Kohli’s message sets off a Discussion in social media.

Fans without delay started to interpret the meaning of these words. The post’s timing added more smoke to the speculation that Kohli might quit ODI cricket soon. A lot of people are asking if the superstar batsman will hold on till the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Kohli, who is known for being very choosy about his personal posts, has not shared anything like this in the past few months. This message was like a signal that he has come back to international cricket after taking a break. Importantly, the last time he played for India was earlier this year at the Champions Trophy where India triumphed over New Zealand.

The tour of Australia not only marks India’s return to ODI after a gap of seven months but also this series holds significance because Shubman Gill will captain the side for the first time in this format. The experienced players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have also re-entered the team but the concern of how long they will be able to keep playing ODIs still exists.

The head coach Gautam Gambhir welcomed the senior players with good wishes, hoping both Kohli and Rohit would enjoy their stay in Australia and perform well.

On the other hand, BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla has categorically denied the speculations that the Australia ODI series will mark the end of the international career for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Shukla specifically stated that the subject of their retirement had not been discussed in the board. He stressed the point that the players will have the full right to decide when to bid goodbye to international cricket.

The Indian squad departed for Australia on the 15th of October, with players reaching Perth on the 16th. The first ODI is scheduled for the 19th of October.
