Playing for India at least once is the dream of countless cricketers, however, only a selected few manage to get that opportunity.

Even amongst this group, only the very talented can make it to the ICC tournaments. It is the top of the sport and every player’s fantasy is to help the team win these tournaments. Only a few, however, have been able to do this, while some have done it many times.

That said, here is a list of seven Indian players who have been lucky enough to get to three ICC trophies and more wins.

Most Successful Indian Cricketers in ICC Tournaments

    7. Ravindra Jadeja: 3

    Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja has been the most important player in the Indian team. He has contributed the full 100 runs and taken the wickets through excellent bowling.

The all-rounder was the one who played in the first ICC tournament in 2013 when India won the Champions Trophy. He was the master of the ball and his bowling made him the highest wicket-taker. He got the Golden Ball for his 12 wickets in five innings.

After waiting for more than a decade, the Saurashtra player added the T20 World Cup to his collection in 2024. Although his performance during the tournament was below par, he exited the T20I format with glory. Nine months after that, Jadeja would be co-winner of the Champions Trophy with India.

    6. Virender Sehwag: 3

    Virender Sehwag

Rogue Indian cricketers of the past decade get associated with the name of Virender Sehwag who was a devilish opener and responsible for scaling up the runs for India at the top of the order very quickly. The open batsman had no fear and directed the destruction of the bowlers at the opposing end.

Sehwag’s main characteristic, which was also his downfall, was his aggressive style that brought the team three ICC titles during his reign. The first of the multiplicity of triumphs was in 2002 when India had to share the Champions Trophy with Sri Lanka, the winner being Sehwag brilliant in that edition, as he accumulated 271 runs over five innings.

In 2007, the second one followed as he was part of the T20 World Cup-winning squad. Although Sehwag didn’t play the final, he made 133 runs in five innings.

His last win of the ICC titles was in 2011. It was the ODI World Cup victory at home, where Sehwag ended with 380 runs to his name.

    5. Harbhajan Singh: 3

    Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan Singh shared the same triumphs with Sehwag. The past Indian spinner took six wickets in the 2002 Champions Trophy.

Later, in the very first T20 World Cup, Harbhajan finished with seven victims while he ended up with nine scalps in the 2011 ODI World Cup. Harbhajan was the mainstay of India’s spin bowling.

    4. Yuvraj Singh: 3

    Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj Singh was the next to tread the path of Sehwag and Harbhajan. Like the two players, he was part of the 2002, 2007, and 2011 ICC tournaments wins.

Yuvraj’s crucial 62 brought India into the final of the 2002 Champions Trophy. Then, after five years, he set the 2007 T20 World Cup on fire with his batting massacre.

And Yuvraj concluded the 2011 World Cup as the Player of the Tournament. He was the top performer for India in that campaign, scoring 362 runs and taking 15 wickets.

    3. MS Dhoni: 3

    MS Dhoni

No doubt, MS Dhoni, India’s most successful captain, and the one who took home three ICC trophies. And he did it each time as the captain.

He was the one in charge of the T20I squad just before the 2007 T20 World Cup. And he got the result instantly. He led a young team that crossed the winning line in the final match.

India was still reeling from the 1983 World Cup victory and desperate to win the 50-over event again. It was with Dhoni that the Men in Blue ended the drought in 2011, that too in front of their home crowd.

Two years later, he took the team to another final. The Indian team then won the Champions Trophy and Dhoni completed the set of ICC white-ball tournaments.

    2. Rohit Sharma: 4

    Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma’s ICC tournament CV is nothing but four wins. His first success came right at the beginning of his career. He was part of the Dhoni-led team that won the first T20 World Cup.

After that, he was again in a title-winning team under Dhoni’s captaincy. He played a pivotal part in India’s Champions Trophy victory in 2013.

Then he added two ICC trophies a decade later, this time as a captain. The Indian team sailed smoothly to their second T20 World Cup victory in 2024. Under Sharma’s leadership, it was a powerful run.

A similar run took place in the 2025 Champions Trophy. India secured the second ICC title with Sharma as the captain.

    1. Virat Kohli: 4

    Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli is the other Indian player who has got four ICC trophies in his collection. But it’s not a surprise because of Kohli’s long-standing love affair with ICC tournaments.

He is the all-time leading run-scorer in all ICC events. And his reliable run-scoring has been a major factor for India being the champions.

Kohli made it possible for his idol Sachin Tendulkar to come true by winning the ODI World Cup in 2011. He scored 282 runs in 9 innings in his first ICC tournament.
