After the IPL’s league stage wraps up, the attention turns to the playoffs. This is the moment when the league’s drama and thrill are at their highest.
The two months of hard work done by the teams will normally lead to such great tensions among the players.
Just one slight error and you might lose everything like a house of cards falling down. However, there have been a number of batsmen who not only destroyed the pressure but also the bowlers during the playoffs.
So, who is the batter with the most runs in IPL playoffs? Let us first check out the top five scorers!
Players with Most runs in IPL playoffs
5. Shane Watson – 389 Runs

Shane Watson was a dependable batsman in the IPL. His reliability came through a few times during the playoffs.
The Australian all-rounder was in playoffs for three franchises and played six times. His performance in the final for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2018 was his best.
He played a monumental innings of an unbroken ton while his team was chasing a target of 179 runs.
Watson had some other important contributions as well and so he got a total of 389 runs in the playoffs. Besides the century, he made three fifties also.
4. Faf du Plessis – 390 Runs

Most of the IPL career of Faf du Plessis coincided with the teams that were in beast mode. First, it was CSK before he led Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to two playoffs in 2022 and 2024.
And the South African was really a big factor in his five knockouts with CSK. No CSK fan can overlook his 86-run knock in the final of 2021!
Du Plessis could not do too much for RCB but he has scored 390 runs in 15 knockout matches.
3. Shubman Gill – 474 Runs

The rise of Shubman Gill has been sensational in the IPL. And he is one of the few batters to have been consistent throughout this decade.
Even in the playoffs, this is the case with his performance. Just to illustrate, Gill has crossed the 25-runs mark in all 10 playoff games he has played so far. No score in single digits!
This has resulted in the league’s toughest phase giving him 474 runs. Moreover, he is determined to move up in the following seasons.
2. MS Dhoni – 523 Runs

MS Dhoni and the IPL playoffs have had a love-hate relationship. He has only failed to be part of the knockouts five times in his 18-season career! Amazing, isn’t it?
The sharp and calm mind of Dhoni has made him a popular player in the playoffs. He may not have scored big but many times he has had 20 or 30 runs.
And in most cases, those were enough as he took his team to victory. Dhoni batted a total of 23 times in the playoffs and scored 523 runs. (Look at some of Dhoni’s IPL records here.)
