1. Debbie Hockley – 1501 runs
Debbie Hockley is a legend of women’s cricket. She played 45 World Cup matches, scored 1501 runs at 42.88 and a strike rate of 57.16. 2 centuries, highest score 100 not out. First woman to score over 1500 runs and play 40+ World Cup matches. She also scored 4064 runs in 118 ODIs for New Zealand, first woman to score 4000 runs in ODIs.
2. Mithali Raj – 1321 runs
Mithali Raj is a well known player in Women’s One Day Internationals. She played 38 World Cup matches, scored 1321 runs at 47.17 and a strike rate of 67.67. 2 centuries and 11 fifties. Made her ODI debut at 16 and impressed with an unbeaten 114 in her first match. Became the leading run-scorer in women’s ODIs with 7805 runs and first to cross 6000 runs. Only Indian captain (male or female) to lead India to 2 ODI World Cup finals, in 2005 and 2017. In 2017 World Cup, she scored 409 runs, top scorer for India and 2nd overall.
3. Janette Brittin – 1299 runs
Janette Ann Brittin was a consistent batter in women’s ODI cricket. She scored 1299 runs in 36 World Cup matches at 43.3 and a strike rate of 60.4. Four World Cup centuries and a best of 138 not out. In 63 ODI matches, Brittin scored 2121 runs at 42.42.
4. Charlotte Edwards – 1231 runs
Charlotte Edwards was a successful captain in England’s ODIs. She played 30 ODI World Cup matches, scored 1231 runs at 53.52 and a strike rate of 73.62. 4 centuries, highest score 173. Made her ODI debut at 16. In 1997, she scored an unbeaten 173 against Ireland in a World Cup match. As captain she led England to the 2009 World Cup win.
5. Suzie Bates – 1179 runs
Suzie Bates started her international career in 2006 and has become a mainstay in New Zealand’s ODI batting. In the ODI World Cup, Bates has played 27 matches, scored 1179 runs at 56.14 and a strike rate of 84.82. 4 centuries, highest score 168 off 105 balls against Pakistan. In the 2013 World Cup, Suzie Bates was the Player of the Tournament and won the ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year award.
6. Belinda Clark – 1151 runs
Belinda Clark is one of Australia’s best ODI players. She played 29 World Cup matches, scored 1151 runs at 60.57 and 76.77. She scored one hundred, 229* against Denmark in 1997 which is one of the highest individual scores in women’s ODI history. She captained Australia to a World Cup title in 1997 and again in 2005 without losing a match.
7. Karen Rolton – 974 runs
Karen Rolton played 28 World Cup matches, batted 22 times and scored 974 runs. Her batting average of 74.92 is one of the highest in the tournament’s history. She had a strike rate of 85.58 and often put pressure on the bowlers. Rolton scored three World Cup hundreds with a highest score of 154*. In the 2005 World Cup final she scored a hundred and was Player of the Match.
8. Meg Lanning – 948 runs
Meg Lanning has been a consistent player in the ODI World Cup. She has played 22 matches, scored 948 runs at 52.66 and 88.68. She has three World Cup hundreds with a highest score of 152*. Lanning became the youngest Australian to score an international hundred at 18. In the 2013 World Cup she was the leading run scorer for Australia.
9. Harmanpreet Kaur – 876 runs
Harmanpreet Kaur has been a match winner for India in the ODI World Cup. She has played 26 World Cup matches and scored 876 runs in 22 innings at 51.52 and 94.39. Her three hundreds include 171* against Australia in the 2017 semi-final. Harmanpreet started her World Cup career in 2009 but in 2013 she scored a hundred against England. In 2017 her 171* helped India reach the final and brought women’s cricket into the spotlight.
