Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium is facing the prospect of being dropped as a venue for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 after the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) missed the deadline to obtain mandatory police clearance. The delay has raised serious concerns among organisers, especially in light of the stampede incident that occurred in June during a ticket sale event, which left several spectators injured.
According to sources, the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are prioritising spectator safety and logistical readiness in their final venue selections. Without the necessary security approvals, Chinnaswamy’s inclusion in the tournament has become increasingly unlikely.

Thiruvananthapuram’s Greenfield International Stadium has emerged as the leading candidate to replace Bengaluru. Known for its modern facilities and successful hosting of international matches in the past, the Kerala venue is being seen as a safe and crowd-friendly alternative.
